The Esquilino is the hill of mysteries. Behind the twentieth-century palaces, historic churches and chinoiserie shops lies one of the most esoteric places in the city. In its heart, Piazza Vittorio, there is still the Porta Magica (Magic Door), a must for anyone fascinated by symbolism, alchemy and mystery.
Starting from Colle Oppio, the site of one of the villages from which Rome arose, we will explore the Esquiline, the highest and largest of the seven hills on which Rome was founded, a visit to discover the hidden gems in this corner of Rome. We will witness the millennial transformations of the area: from the numerous Roman remains of villas and temples, to the largest square in Rome, the heart of the Esquiline district, created over the remains of the ancient Esquiline necropolis. We will retrace the early years of the history of Rome as the capital city, with images of a lost Rome whose beauty can be seen in the many well-preserved Art Nouveau buildings.
