Villa Torlonia

  • Plutone Viaggi srl 29 Via Sardegna Rome, Lazio, 00187 Italy (map)

From the Torlonia to the Duce, the history of a villa and its inhabitants

Located in the heart of the Nomentano district, the villa takes its name from the family that made it a monument, the Torlonia family, and became famous for being the home of Benito Mussolini. The villa was built with the intention of equalling and surpassing the splendour and beauty of the most ancient Roman villas and was soon a place of social gatherings, to be then opened to the public according to the hospitable tradition of Roman villas. We will retrace the history of the families who lived there and the transformation of the villa over time, while also enjoying the natural beauty that the park still offers today.
