The great beauty of Rome, the area near the Tiber and the right bank: the Jewish Ghetto, Trastevere and the Gianicolo hill.
The Jewish history of the city of Rome is told in the streets of the Ghetto with its sampietrini, in the true heart of the city where ancient Roman ruins, Renaissance palaces and flats stand next to medieval churches. Rome's Jewish ghetto, where for over three centuries Europe's oldest Jewish community lived isolated from the rest of the city, in an area closed off at night by gates, is one of the capital's most beautiful hidden treasures where you can enjoy a religious, cultural and even gastronomic experience. Crossing the Tiber Island we enter the Trastevere district, one of Rome's most beautiful and characteristic neighbourhoods, where among the narrow alleyways you can find typical trattorias, small markets, artisan shops and where you can still capture the most authentic and genuine essence of Rome. We will then ideally climb up to the Janiculum Hill, in a place dedicated to the memory of the Risorgimento; Perhaps not everyone knows that one of Rome's oldest and most curious traditions originates on the Janiculum terrace. At the top of the Janiculum hill, right under Garibaldi's statue, a cannon has been positioned since 24 January 1904, firing a blank shot every day at midday on the dot.
