Selinunte, Segesta and the Belice Valley, places where time stands still
There are places where time seems to stand still, that part of Sicily that the Greeks loved so much and where, even today, we find testimonies and monumental remains, places that seem to be outside of time.
Not far from the well-known Valle del Belice, devastated by the terrible earthquake of 1968 and never really rebuilt, lie Segesta and Selinunte, once eternal rivals for the control of Sicily. Today, all that remains of that rivalry is the competition between their temples. Some of them stand on top of the hills that dominate the landscape, reminding us of the grandeur of a city that has now disappeared, while of other temples only the remains stay. However, it is still possible to perceive the sense of majesty that had to be, in a silence broken only by the rustle of olive trees and waves of the sea.
